ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jafar Sodick Ardhany, a self-taught artist, entered the world of art at an early age and became an active member of the art community in his village. From 1984 to 1986, he and several artists were contracted by the Indonesian Air Force as technical illustrators for the technical manuals of the F5 and Hercules planes. During these three years, Sodick honed his realist skills as he illustrated in detail, thousands of parts used in these planes. After his stint with the Indonesian Air Force, he took up a job as a graphic designer cum illustrator and administrator for a business magazine outfit. Here, Sodick changed the look and feel of the magazine to match the likes of business magazines from the US and Europe. Till today, the magazine still retains much of Sodick’s “look & feel”. In 1990, Sodick became a full-time artist, as he needed to explore his inner-self – the freedom to express his ideas and his creation of art. Over the years, Sodick participated in many group and solo exhibitions.
